Louisville, Ky - America's top gay activist blogger, Mike Rogers, went public today with his investigation into Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (KY). Rogers called on the Senator to release his military records -- including documentation of the reason McConnell was discharged from the Army in the midst of the Vietnam War -- one day after the Lexington Herald-Leader reported that Kentucky's former Attorney General Greg Stumbo came forward with questions of his own for McConnell.

Sen. Mitch McConnellRogers has made a career of investigating suspected, closeted, anti-gay public officials, including Senator Larry Craig (ID) and Reps. Mark Foley (FL) and Ed Schrock (VA). He is the founder of Proud of Who We Are, an organization that encourages closeted, anti-gay politicians to serve proudly as gay Americans, regardless of their political party.

Rogers has taken six trips to Kentucky in the last several months to investigate long-standing questions about McConnell's military service. Rogers has visited numerous towns, spoken with dozens of people, and spent hours pouring over archived public records.

Rogers has discovered inconsistencies in McConnell's public Army records and is the first investigative reporter to note the differing answer to a section of the records titled "Transcript of Court Martial." While every other section of McConnell's records without information states "n/a," this particular section uniquely states, "not on file." "Alone," said Rogers, "this court martial information may be insignificant, but it warrants further investigation when coupled with my other research."

I've investigated enough to conclude that there are serious questions surrounding Senator McConnell's military service, and I think Kentuckians deserve answers," Rogers continued. "It's worth noting that next month Senator McConnell could become the highest-ranking Republican at the federal level.

To have an anti-gay politician as the standard bearer of his party when there are unanswered questions about his military service is something I think the American people simply will not tolerate. After all, this is the same man who threw Larry Craig under the bus while supporting confessed adulterer David Vitter. Suspicions about McConnell were raised then, and he's yet to answer them."

Louisville, KY- I was in the midst of writing a mild-mannered fact-filled essay this morning. It was about how this election could be easily stolen. Stolen, in the same fashion of the crime that was our 2000 Presidential election.

Then I was set into an immediate fit of frustration and borderline outrage as I read this article in the Huffington Post.

Wait a hot minute, folks. I'm a Democrat. I am an east-coast raised, tree-hugging, liberal Black lady with a car that has Whole Foods bags in the trunk and an Obama sticker on the bumper. How in the hell could I be irritated by an article in the Huffington Post?

Larry David's well-written, and mostly hilarious op-ed contained the following sentence:

"If Obama loses, it would be easier to live with it if it’s due to racism rather than if it’s stolen."

My immediate reaction to this?

"Oh, the hell it will!"

He continued on to say:

"If it's racism, I can say, "Okay, we lost, but at least it's a democracy. Sure, it's a democracy inhabited by a majority of disgusting, reprehensible turds, but at least it's a democracy." If he loses because it's stolen, that will be much worse. Call me crazy, but I'd rather live in a democratic racist country than a non-democratic non-racist one."

Hey, guess what? In 2000, it was evident that we lived in a country containing both a lack of Democracy, but also a continued undertone of the aforementioned, "reprehensible turds," which I might add, haven't moved to France or anything.

These ideas are apparently easy for a rich White dude, who's obviously a Democrat, or at least an Obama supporter to swallow. As a Young Black woman who's mother traveled the country and faced opposition daily for my right to be treated like a person, it's not quite that easy to accept. It's also not easy to swallow as someone who isn't quite 30 yet, and is the great-grandchild of a woman who was born a slave.

Racism isn't something that should be swept under the rug, nor should it be accepted as something that comes along with life. It's total ignorant bullshit, and I'm not going to idly accept it.

Aside from all the fantastic benefits of having Barack Obama as president, it's crucial for the progress of African American people throughout this country, and race relations within our nation as a whole, that Barack Obama become president.

If he loses the popular vote due to racist Democrats or would-be turncoat Republicans who can't process the idea of a Black president, that would speak volumes about how ignorant our public has become. It would also be great conversation material for the ignorant fucks who aren't going to vote for Obama because he's black. I for damn sure don't want them to have anything to talk about.
